How to Shop for a Christmas Tree

By Jenny | December 3, 2005

What a great day! This morning Nathan and I met our good friends, the Burtons, at their home around noon. We had lunch together and then set off on an adventure to find the perfect Christmas tree. We started out at a Christmas tree farm hoping to be able to brag that we cut down our own tree….but it turns out white pine trees aren’t as pretty as firs, so we spent the next hour or so driving to Christmas tree lots around Raleigh looking for the right price. As it turns out, Home Depot has some great prices on their trees. Nathan and I found a beautiful tree, as did Desi and Tom (David was working hard at the church, preparing for the Christmas Musical and wasn’t able to come with us…we missed you, David). We bought our trees and headed to the Burton’s home to set theirs up. We ate a few snacks and headed to our place to get our tree all set up. (And of course we had to eat more snacks here.) Nathan and I have had Christmas music playing as we’ve decorated the tree and hung all of our ornaments. We got a gorgeous wreath from one of the lots where we stopped, and I’ve enjoyed making a bow and putting some ornaments on it. I can’t wait to sit on the couch and just enjoy the Christmas tree! It’s really starting to feel like Christmas!

Yes, Tommy and I (Desi) had a wonderful time! How truely blessed we are that the Millers would have asked us to go Christmas tree shopping with them. A new tradition perhaps?? And Jen was humble when she talked about having lunch before we left..it was a feast she had been stewing all night the night before and boy was it good. David really enjoyed it when he got home. He told me to get the recipe from Jen. Remembering that day will always bring warmth to my heart and a smile to my face. Good friends..a gift from God.

Good Morning! I always enjoy going to your site. Thanks for keeping us updated. One day I hope to have a website for the Livingston family.

Atlanta had some flurries this morning. Unfortunately, it missed us. Maybe tonight.

    Lots of love!
