The Beginning of Classes
By Jenny | February 4, 2006
Now that I have had a full week of classes I can assure you all that Jenny Miller will be a frequent visitor of the Southeastern Library this semester. The three classes that I am taking are going to require a TON of work, but they will be SOOO worth it! My first class, Church History II, is my easiest class. We’ve been studying the events surrounding the life of Martin Luther, and it has been so interesting. (For that reason Nathan and I watched the movie Luther last night – it’s a great movie!) My professor is incredibly smart and very witty, and getting a good laugh in here and there makes for a fun three hours. My next class, Jeremiah/Lamentations, is going to be amazing! My quiet time has been in Jeremiah for a few weeks, and I’m really looking forward to studying it in-depth for an entire semester. The professor seems like such a great man. When calling roll this week (with well over 100 students in the class), he took time with each student to ask, “Where are you from? What do you want to do with your life? Have you studied Jeremiah before?” It took an hour, but it was great! Then he broke us up into prayer groups. There are five girls in my group, and we are looking forward to getting to know one another this semester and praying for each other. My third class is Christian Faith & World Religions. This class is the one that will stretch me the most. We are going to be studying Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, and a whole bunch of other religions I never knew existed. My professor has a strong belief that when Jesus commanded us to “make disciples of every nation” (Matthew 28:19) He meant every nation. He has a website with a lot of great tools for understanding world religions and sharing your faith with those who practice them. During this semester I will have to share Christ with someone who practices one of these religions. I’m looking forward to all that God is going to teach me in these next few months. It will difficult to balance school with work, church, and home, but these years of schooling will be so worth it in the years to come.
