This Week

Hello everybody! I hope that all is well! Jenny and I are doing great! School started back up in full force this week. That has added to our busy schedule. We are both looking forward to this semester, and we both have some great classes. I’ll let Jenny describe hers for you. I believe that my favorite class will be Pastoral Ministries. It is an extremely practical class that teaches me the ends and outs of a Pastor’s Ministry. It will teach me how to do weddings, funerals, counseling, dealing with deacons, and pretty much everything else that I can’t think of right now. =) So far it has challenged me in a way that I haven’t felt in a while. The Lord has been teaching me in so many ways. I can’t wait to tell you all about them over the course of the semester.
I’ve also been challenged a lot lately in my Quiet Time! Over the past week, there has been a reoccurring theme in my study. It has been about trusting in God’s plan and the way that He changes us and molds us to that plan. Often times we get so busy and bogged down with the stresses of life, and we forget to go to God for direction. That’s where I have been as of late. However, through some circumstances recently, the Lord has been changing my attitudes. As Oswald Chambers puts it in My Utmost for His Highest, “God speaks in the language you know best - not through your ears, but through your circumstances.” What has the Lord been teaching me? Once again in my Quiet Time I read from Chambers and he asked these pointed questions, “Am I determined to live my own way for God?” “Is the Word of God tremendously penetrating and sharp in me as I hand it on to you, or does my life betray the things I profess to teach?” WOW!! Does that hurt! I don’t think that anyone of us could answer that question truthfully and not come away under some conviction. In 1 Corinthians 9:14 we read, “Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.” Do you practice what you preach?
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you that gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you – unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
