David’s Surgery

By Nathan | January 18, 2007

Hello everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for your prayers over the last several weeks leading up to today. Jenny’s dad, David, had his surgery today. The surgery went really well, they received a lot of upbeat news about his current condition. The surgery ended up being far more extensive than they had imagined. The cancer had spread more than they had expected, and it had also penetrated the vein it was wrapped around. The doctor was able to get out all the cancer he could see, and reconstruct the vein in the process. He also had to remove more of the pancreas than originally thought due to the spreading cancer.

David is currently doing great. He is recovering well, and will be placed in a regular room tonight. Please continue to pray for him over the next few weeks. The doctor took several tissue samples to be tested for additional cancer. Those results should come in next week sometime, and they will give us a better picture about his future treatment.

In the meantime there are a few specific request you can pray for:
His body would not reject the synthetic vein.
There would be no internal bleeding.
There would be no leaking in his intestinal track.
There would be no infection.

Thank you all again for your continued prayers. The Lord has been so good to our family through this process, and He has blessed us through His people. We cannot thank you enough!
