Update on David

By Nathan | January 23, 2007

Hello everyone! Thank you all for your prayers over the last several weeks for our family. I just wanted to take the opotunity to give you an update on David’s condition. Earlene (Jenny’s Mom) sent me the following message this morning:

“David is doing great today. He told us that he feels 100,000 percent better. We received the pathology report today. As we read how much larger and invasive the tumor was, we just rejoice in the fact that David and several doctors opted to attack this cancer aggressively. David is down to four tubes in his body and will have two of those with him for the next 25 days. He is on a full liquid diet now and is much happier now that he has food. The physician’s assistant was by earlier to see David. After consulting with Dr. Nguyen and reviewing his lab work, they are very pleased with what they see. They expect David to be released this Thursday, exactly seven days after surgery. WOW! What an answer to prayer! We will remain in town for a few days in order to allow David a little rest and to see the doctor on Monday. If he continues to progress, we will head to Woodstock on Tuesday or Wednesday.

David will be having a MRI this morning. They did find a small leak yesterday in the pancreas and have injected a drug to seal that leak. The portal vein doesn’t have quite the blood flow they would expect. However, his kidneys and liver are now funtioning at 100 percent which is an indication that everything is working well.

Again, we are so thankful for the progress we have seen. He is doing remarkably well. By the way, he let us know that he was able to catch up on the last six days of QT this morning We would ask that you continue to pray for us as he recovers from the surgery and prepares for radiation in six to eight weeks.”

Thanks again for your prayers! They are making a difference.
