Please Continue to Pray for Dad
By Jenny | January 27, 2007
Thanks so much for all your prayers on Dad’s behalf. We are so grateful that the surgery went well, Dr. Nguyen got all the cancer, and Dad’s pancreas has stopped leaking. However, the past several days have been rough on my father. Tuesday he was doing great! He looked good, felt good, and was up and moving around by himself. Then things went downhill from there. Since Wednesday he’s been nauseas, dizzy, and weak. He’s not been able to keep food or liquids down, and of course that means all of his medicines are coming up as well. He took a pretty hard fall last night, and he passed out this afternoon. His blood pressure got so low that they were going to admit him to ICU. However, ICU was full, and they were able to stabilize him and keep him in his regular room. He’s been given a shot for the nausea, and the doctors are hoping he’ll get some good rest and start gaining back his strength. The resident doctor told Dad that this surgery is one of the most major operations performed at the Mayo Clinic, and certain complications (such as those Dad’s experiencing) are to be expected. Mom was also told by the nursing staff that Dad’s kidneys haven’t been properly functioning for the past few days. We are concerned about this, but the resident doctor didn’t seem to have any answers. Dr. Nguyen will be back on Monday, and I’m sure he’ll address all of our concerns. In the meantime, we would covet your continued prayers for Dad to regain his strength and to get some good rest. Thank you so much for your love and support of our family during this time. We have felt an amazing sense of peace, and we are learning what it is like to trust God for one day at a time.

We will keep praying. It was so very good to have both of you with us this weekend. We appreciate your servant’s hearts and willingness to share yourselves with others. (And besides that, you’re just fun to be around!)
