Hello everyone! I know this is a much needed update, but things have been crazy the last several weeks. First of all, Jenny and I have finally graduated. It’s hard to believe that we are finished. For most of my life I have been in school and now we are done. It’s a good feeling!

Second of all, we are greatly indebted to all of you in Raleigh who helped us load the moving truck. We had a lot of help and we probably would still be there loading if it wasn’t for the help we received.

We will miss Raleigh, and the people that we have met, but the Lord is moving us on. We are looking forward to what he will teach us here in Woodstock. For the most part we are unpacked and settled in. I still do not have a job yet, but I’ve been looking around and I have a few prospects. So keep me in your prayers that I would find something soon.

On another note, Josh had the opportunity to go to the pool for the first time, and he had a blast. I never imagined he would love it as much as he did.

Well that’s all for now. I hope that all of you are doing well. I’ll update you all soon!

Nathan and I have several friends from our church that are expecting babies in the next several months. One of the couples, Josh and Amy, had to unexpectedly deliver their little girl today at just 26 weeks. Amy had an emergency c-section this afternoon. Little Emma Kate is a little over two pounds, but her lungs are not fully developed. The doctors say she is a strong little baby and has a good chance of making it. I’m sorry I don’t know many details, but I’d like to ask you to lift Josh and Amy and especially little Emma Kate up to the Lord. I can’t imagine the emotions they’re experiencing. Thanks so much for your faithfulness to pray!

Okay! I know that it has been way too long since I have written anything. I hope that all of you can forgive me. I’ve been a little busy with school these days, but I could not let this opportunity pass me by. I have to tell you about our wonderful weekend. Last weekend we had the opportunity to go with the Burtons to Myrtle Beach. We all had the greatest time! It was a weekend packed with nothing to do but kick back and relax. * WPG2 Plugin Not Validated * Well I guess that’s not all we did, but I did enjoy that part. It was a little on the cool side so we didn’t get to spend as much time on the beach, but we were able to build an awesome sandcastle one day. * WPG2 Plugin Not Validated * Oh yes! And of course, there was the food! All you know that I love to eat, probably almost as must as I like to sleep. We got to eat at several great resturants, as well as eat 40 lbs of fudge. Then there was the brownies that David would not share! Sorry Sheri, I tried to take them from him!

Well, there isn’t much more to say about our trip, other than it was a trip filled with food, fun, and fellowship! It was great to get away from the stress of school and work for a few days. We all needed the time of refreshing! David I think enjoyed it a little too much! He enjoyed the trip so much that he would randomly break out into singing off key in public. I know, you had to be there to get the full effect, but it was hilarious. Check out the pictures when you get a chance!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot! I didn’t make a post about this because I’ve been so busy, but last weekend. (March 11th) We went with the tech team at the church to take a tour of WRAL, the local CBS affiliate. It was a fun trip! Check out the pictures! * WPG2 Plugin Not Validated * Sorry, I know that to most of you all the pictures of the equipment is boring, but I’m a tech nerd! What can I say!

Hi everyone! Can you believe it’s March already? I am starting to come to grips with the fact that Spring is fast approaching. I think March 21 is the first official day, but Mr. Weather in Raleigh, NC doesn’t seem to realize it’s only March 8. I have hardly worn my scarves and gloves all season! What a disappointment. It will be in the 70s and 80s the next few days. I guess I’ll be pulling out my summer clothes. What a shame! I guess in light of 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Give thanks in all things, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.) I should start counting my blessings. That is a very easy task as I have so much to be thankful for! I’m thankful for the few snow flurries we’ve had. While the snow never stuck to the ground, there’s just a magical feeling about being outside and seeing little white snowflakes fall all around you. I’m also thankful for my wonderful husband. If you read his last post (about my birthday), you know how blessed I am to have married such an incredible guy. God has given us both great families – we love you guys so much! And our friends are just like family to us. If you’ve viewed the pictures from my birthday party with the Burtons, you can see how much fun we have together. I’m grateful for the Burton’s friendship. Who else would have decorated their yard and house and silly stringed me when I came in??? That takes special people – like David, Desi, and Tom. Thanks, guys, for making my birthday special! Nathan and I are actually sitting at our favorite coffee shop waiting for David and Desi, and so I will close so I can enjoy my white chocolate mocha (and Nathan’s milkshake). We hope you all are doing well!

Good morning! It is a nice, cool morning here in Raleigh, NC. A nice change from the 70-degree weather we’ve had lately – in JANUARY! Well, I guess it wasn’t too bad…the last several days have been beautiful…it’s just that I prefer to wear my sweaters and scarves, etc.

We had some friends over last night and enjoyed dinner with them. Nathan made his delicious shish kabobs and we just had fun sitting around and talking with Paul and Mandy. We slept in this morning, and as Nathan is still snoozing away I’m sipping my Hot Caramel Apple Cider in my Starbucks mug and watching the kitties chase each other around the apartment. They’re so much fun to watch! They enjoyed having company last night – that meant two more people to play with.

Today we plan to head over to the Burtons for a day of games and fellowship. We had dinner with them Wednesday night after David returned from a two-week mission trip to Turkey. And guess what my friend David did? He brought me something back! A beautiful pashmine and a cookbook from Central Asia…I already have a few recipes I’d like to try. David, who says the trip was life-changing, has reminded us of the extravagant lifestyle we Americans live compared to the missionaries he met in Turkey. How often do I take things for granted? Every day, I’m sure. God has blessed us with so much, and Nathan and I are trying to be more aware of the everyday things for which we should be thankful. One thing we are both very grateful for is the family and friends God has given us. You’re the best! Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

What a great day! This morning Nathan and I met our good friends, the Burtons, at their home around noon. We had lunch together and then set off on an adventure to find the perfect Christmas tree. We started out at a Christmas tree farm hoping to be able to brag that we cut down our own tree….but it turns out white pine trees aren’t as pretty as firs, so we spent the next hour or so driving to Christmas tree lots around Raleigh looking for the right price. As it turns out, Home Depot has some great prices on their trees. Nathan and I found a beautiful tree, as did Desi and Tom (David was working hard at the church, preparing for the Christmas Musical and wasn’t able to come with us…we missed you, David). We bought our trees and headed to the Burton’s home to set theirs up. We ate a few snacks and headed to our place to get our tree all set up. (And of course we had to eat more snacks here.) Nathan and I have had Christmas music playing as we’ve decorated the tree and hung all of our ornaments. We got a gorgeous wreath from one of the lots where we stopped, and I’ve enjoyed making a bow and putting some ornaments on it. I can’t wait to sit on the couch and just enjoy the Christmas tree! It’s really starting to feel like Christmas!

Nathan already gave a brief description of our fair experience, but I wanted to expound upon that. We really had a great time with our friends, David, Desi, and Tom. Tom’s birthday is Monday, and he wanted us to go with them to the fair for his birthday gift. I haven’t been to a fair since 2003 when we were still living in Florida, and that was the Clay County Agricultural Fair. Ahh, what memories. Who could ever forget all the pigs!! Leslie and Megan and I (along with most of our cousins) raised pigs (notice I said “raised” not “raced”) in 4-H. While this “hobby” sometimes brought a little teasing from our citified friends, the money we earned from auctioning the pigs off paid for my down payment on my Civic as well as most of my college at Word of Life. So it was like taking a walk down Memory Lane last night as we strolled through the livestock exhibits with smelly pigs, cows, chickens, rabbits, goats, and horses. Do I miss raising pigs? Not one bit. I’m glad I did it, but I don’t have a desire to do it again. Enough about pigs.

I had three favorites at the fair. First, the food. The NC State Fair is HUGE (or for Megan, gargantuan)! We didn’t have a map, so we just walked and walked to find the things we were looking for. That meant passing by hundreds of food vendors. There was pizza everywhere, burgers, fries, nachos, sausage, Philly cheese steak sandwiches, ice cream, fried twinkies, fried candy bars, apple cider, and of course, funnel cakes. While I only indulged myself with a slice of pizza and a funnel cake, taking in all the smells was wonderful. Another of my favorite things was the craft and hobby exhibits. I enjoyed looking at the neat little crafts and things…I even found a cute wooden choo-choo train for the little boys I take care of. They’ll love it!! The crafts exhibit had a little bit of everything – from hand-made kaleidoscopes to pottery to quilts, etc. My other favorite part of the fair was the plant and garden area. There were SO MANY plants and flowers, and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I’m looking forward to next October just to go the fair again.

Well, that about sums it up. The fair had some really nice fireworks at the end that were fun to watch. It started sprinkling as we were watching the fireworks, then it started raining as we headed to the truck. Praise the Lord it was dry most of the night! The weather here has been so pleasant lately with a touch of fall in the air.

I hope everyone is doing well. We’re really looking forward to seeing you all at Thanksgiving.

Last night Jenny and I got to go to the North Carolina State Fair. It wasn’t the first time that I had been, but it was the first time in a long time. What made it even better was that we got to go with some of our good friends: David, Desirae, and Tom. What did we do? Nothing much, but that was great. It’s good to get to go somewhere and not have to do anything in particular, especially after a long week. However, the highlight of the night was the food. If you have never gone to the fair, you have to go for the food. It was incredible! We also were able to go and see all of the livestock, fruit, and vegetables that were grown and entered into the fair. You might think that it sounds boring, but wait until you see some of the pictures that we took of the highlights. Check out the gallery!!!
